Concerns for Florida Gulf Coast Beaches
This came to me today from Visit Pensacola. Great news!
Yesterday afternoon a news report came out regarding water quality on Florida panhandle beaches. The Florida Department of Health had issued temporary health advisories related to water quality in two Florida Panhandle counties however contrary to reports, no Gulf of Mexico beaches were closed to swimming and the bacteria present is not flesh-eating.
We want our stakeholders and partners to know that the beaches of Escambia County and the Pensacola Bay Area are all safe and open to the public. There is no indication of any health hazard in the waters of the Pensacola Bay Area and there no advisories in effect at this time
In fact, recent water quality testing in Escambia County was all clear, according to Florida Health reports. 10 beaches, bays and bayous around Pensacola were sampled for the presence of enterococci bacteria between June 20-27, and all test results came back good. For more up-to-date information about the water quality of Escambia County, click here.
