Perdido Key Beaches Reopening May 1st
Great news! Our county commissioners met this morning and voted to reopen our public beaches.
We all know that the sunshine is what we need during this time and it's about time to do some distancing from the beach.
The State of Florida's health order and rent restrictions are both set to expire April 30th. Afterward, the reopening process will begin and at the forefront of this will be our local public beaches.
Currently, the plan is as follows:
Beaches are open effective May 1st 30 minutes after sunrise until 30 minutes before sunset.
People are advised to maintain CDC social distancing guidelines, but clearly families won't be expected to distance from one another.
Pavilions at public beaches will remain closed for now.
Our County will be requesting to Gulf Islands National Seashore that they also reopen following our county's leading role.
Restaurants are still operating as curbside ad take-out deliveries. The options for having good food delivered have increased since this began and we hope that these local eateries continue offering these expanded delivery services as their new normal.
Resort Pools are mostly open. Some homeowner associations still have their pools closed, but most are available to owners and renters who are urged to continue following CDC guidelines with regards to distancing.
We will know more about other businesses as the week progresses and urge you to email our office if you have questions about any specific businesses. We'll be happy to find out their plan for you!
When you're ready, we'll be here to help you make plans to come back to Perdido Key. We have more specials going on this year than any year before, all of which are in place to get you back to the beach. Come to relax, to decompress, to stretch out, and bask in the warm Perdido Key sunshine.
