The location of the property was great. It was an easy entry and exit to the highway. The pool and tiki bar were easily accessible to the condo. The main concern with the unit was the glass entry door and the glass bedroom door. Neither door had any type of covering (ie, blinds or curtains). While the front door was not much of a concern, I think the solid glass bedroom door needed some type of covering for privacy. There is a lot of renovations happening to the condos, which created some parking issues. I do believe that upon completion of these renovations, the place will be really great. All of that being said, on a whole, we enjoyed our stay and would come back again. My prior comments are just suggestions and observations.

Everything was good, clean and nicely taken care of. Even though there was construction going on and limited parking space, it caused no problems for us. Everything was kept cleaned up and wasn’t a big mess like construction sites can be. We always were able to find a parking spot pretty close to our unit. Kids loved the pool! Drinks and food from the tiki bar was excellent!

We absolutely love this place!! This was our second year to stay there and we will continue to stay there on vacation for years to come. The pool is perfect. Johnson beach is so close and the bar and live music makes it great fun!!! Perfect for the whole family!!!!!

The Purple Parrot is awesome and a fun place to stay. It's also very affordable. Perdido Key is one of our favorite vacation spots. The beaches don't get any better than this. We had a great time at Surf City, the bar by the pool. Several nights during our stay, we cooked fresh seafood from the local seafood market, which is only about 5 minutes away. The kitchen had plenty of cooking supplies which was nice. The condo was clean and well decorated. My only complaint would be the bed. I woke up with a crick in my neck one morning and my husband ended up moving to the couch several times during the night because it was really uncomfortable. Overall though, the condo was very nice. We absolutely love the Purple Parrot and will definitely be back!

Bahama Mama

We stayed at the Purple Parrot Resort from early January through late March in 18CD, Bahama Mama. The condo was very nice with a comfortable bed and a nice supply of kitchen items. The extra 1/2 bath was a big help. Any problems we had (and they were minor) were quickly taken care of by the friendly/helpful staff. The condo could use an updated TV in the living room but there is one in the bed room that worked for NetFlix, etc. The village itself is also very nice. The outdoor pool area was great, although this past winter was unusually cold, so we did not swim outdoors at all. The indoor pool, hot tub and fitness center were great and we spent quite a bit of time there during our stay. The village is a couple minutes drive to a public beach access and a National Park that is very nice. It is also a few minutes to a Publix, a CVS and gas station; WalMart is about a 10 minute drive. Overall, we would stay at the Purple Parrot Resort again and would recommend condo 18CD.

Close to beach and awesome pool

Bahama Mama was super clean and very comfortable! Nice big king bed. Loved the resort's swimming pools, though the indoor pool was kinda chilly. The beach is not far (you can walk there, but there are no sidewalks...we walked anyway). The only thing that really bugged us was that you could hear every footstep in the condo above, which was annoying. Other than that, it's a great place!

We ended up at Bahama Mama 18CD because of an error on my part with the reservations. The staff at the rental office were great with helping us to get our reservation sorted out. We loved the Purple Parrott as soon as we entered the gate. The condo was very comfortable and clean. We will definitely stay here again in the future!

Great Place-Wonderful Pool - Amazing Beach

This is the 4th time we have stayed at the Purple Parrott and as always it was fantastic. This was the 1st time we did not stay pool front and it was still great. The location of this condo was still very close to the pool but is located within a quite and beautifully landscaped area. The bed was super comfy and the condo's furnishings were beautiful. It was very clean and had everything we needed and more. The half-bath is an extra perk of this one bedroom unit. As always, we enjoyed our time at Johnson Beach. We had the beach to ourselves most days and it is truly one of the most beautiful beaches. Enjoyed seeing the Blue angels practice and truly enjoyed our visit to Fisherman's Corner (our 1st visit) which is only over the bridge. We look forward to coming back again next year. We have stayed in four different condos over the years and all of them have been wonderful. Bahama Mama proved to be one of the best.

A very nice stay at the purple parrot

Except for two minor glitches (the artwork over the bed fell off and several of the plugs in the kitchen were dead) the Bahama Mama was a really well kept up, clean and very homey place to stay. The pool was beautiful and although we didn't go to the beach too much because it was so windy it still was so close that we easily could have done so. I read many reviews trying to decide if this was the place to go while visiting my daughter at Pensacola Christian College and I am so glad that we did.

Our experience at Purple Parrot was very enjoyable!

This was our second year at Purple Parrot and staying in this particular home. We have reserved time for next year in this same condo. We really enjoy Perdido Key and being close to the National Seashore, hiking and biking trails and state parks. We have found the staff to be very accomodating. The one complaint we have is, there were not enough cooking utinsels in the unit.

I enjoy cooking while on vacation...however pans etc needs updated..most were in poor shape and not up to par as the previous rentals. Towels were limited 3 very skimpy bath towels and 2 wash cloths...we needed to wash every day in order to have clean towels. We had made reservations for a different unit but while in transit the day of arrival the unit had been changed. The management did offer to move us to another unit if we were unsatisfied however who really wants to move after you have traveled and carried in all luggage. Overall I love Purple Parrot and the staff is very nice, but this unit will be on my do not reserve list.

Weekend Getaway

Just wanted a weekend together. Check in was easy as pie. The home was lovely with everything we could want. It was exactly what we were looking for. Loved having coffee and wine on our very own front porch! while not on the waterfront, the beach was a very short drive with plenty of parking. The worst part was that we had to leave and go back to the real world. Can't wait to come again!!

We really enjoyed being able to ride our bikes down to the seashore. The pools are great. The only thing we had a problem with was the busy road in front of the resort, but we managed.

Great Resort, close to Gulf Island National Seashore

Purple Parrot Village Resort is a great place, quiet, away from the tall condos, and set back into some protected wetlands. Great, huge pool with Tiki Bar, indoor pool and exercise room, saunas. The units are two story cottages. We stayed in Bahama Mama 18cd, a downstairs one-bedroom, with a bath and a half. Loved the unit and the setting.
Unit was furnished and equipped wonderfully, including front-loading washer/dryer. This unit was set back off the parking a bit, with two sides fronting natural, protected wetlands, a beautiful, peaceful setting.
Our favorite beach spot was the Gulf Island National Seashore, just a mile away. $8 a week per car, $10 for a senior lifetime pass to all National Parks (gets free admission to everyone in your car - for life!!). Several miles of pristine, undeveloped seashore on this barrior island which is only a couple of hundred yards wide in places. You can drive about 3 miles into the seashore, and its an additional 5+ miles to the end of the key - totally natural.
In our 6 or 7 times at that beach, we never saw more than 10 - 15 people on that 3-mile stretch, many times sitting at the water's edge and the next people were 1/4 mile away. Loved the isolation and quiet - buildings, condos are faint in the distance, 3 miles away.
Our most amazing experience was watching waterfowl feeding off of fish being brought to the beach by the surf -- 4:30 - 6:00 p.m. and about 7:00 - 8:00 a.m.

THE CONDO WAS VERY CLEAN AND SET UP REALLY COMFORTABLE.I WOULD HAVE LIKED TO BE A LITTLE CLOSER TO THE PARKING AREA,BUT THAT WAS THE ONLY DRAWBACK.THE POOL WAS LOVELY AND KEPT REALLY CLEAN. My husband and I drove down from Minnesota in January and stayed one week. Although the resort isn't directly on the beach, it is a short distance away and tucked back in a lovely wooded, natural area. Our one bedroom vacation home was beautifully decorated, spacious, immaculately clean. These units are new, very well maintained and the management is very accommoding. Restaurants and grocery stores are nearby. The resort has an indoor pool and hot tub which we enjoyed. We are thinking of staying for an entire month next year as it's so economical with all the discounts. Pensacola has a lot of history and the Naval Air Museum, and the National Park Service has much of the barrier islands under their management as the Gulf Islands National Seashore. There are also a number of Florida State Parks in the area to visit. The only negative thing are the cooler temperatures, 40-60 degrees in January, but this is so much better than Minnesota! There are very few tourists here this time of year and the restaurants have wonderful discounts too.

The "Bahama Mama" was beautiful. Everything was very clean and fresh. It has a relaxing atmosphere and it was just the right size for us. We were two adults and one child. The kitchen is small, but functional for quick meals. It had everything we needed. The pool was a very short walk from the villa. We would definitely return to "the Bahama Mama" for our next vacation in this area.

We rented this house on relatively short notice, and experienced absolutely no problems. Also, it was one of the few properties available for less than one week, which suited us wonderfully. The reservations and check in process were fine,and the manager was more than helpful. the property was clean, and as advertised.
The community pools are wonderful, really nice, a plus for the property.
It is not on the beach, but we knew that on the front end, so if you want beach access, choose another place (it will surely cost more!). The gravel roads in the complex were rough, even at the appropriate slow speed limit, so we just had reember to creep along.
All in all I would stay there again under the same circumstances. Maybe should be given a Highly Recommended, or at least between the two.
